What is CLIO?

CLIO is 'Community Landcare Information Online'

CLIO has been developed by the former Department of Land and Water Conservation to display maps and information on NSW landcare groups on the Internet.

CLIO provides three types of information:
  •
  • Interactive maps: You can view maps of New South Wales at varying levels of detail around any location, by zooming or re-centering the map.
  •
  • Landcare group locations: These are approximate locations identified by a pink triangle, and are visible by zooming in or selecting a local government or catchment management board area.
  •
  • Information about Landcare groups: This is accessible by clicking on the pink triangles or Group list button on the map, or searching the Landcare database. Information includes the activities undertaken and natural resource issues being addressed by landcare groups across the state, as well as contact details to obtain further information.

Landcare support staff and groups have provided information on their locations for the map and the groups and networks to which they belong. Changes should be submitted to support. Other detailed information will be displayed in the future. CLIO can be used for:
  •
  • Accessing on ground information for use in planning and investment in natural resource management; and
  •
  • Communicating the work of landcare groups:
  •
  • to anyone who is interested, 24 hours a day
  •
  • to those that haven't been involved before
  •
  • to students and researchers
  •
  • by creating a link between urban and rural landcare, where rural groups are often in remote locations
  •
  • by allowing landcare groups to form links and share information with groups outside their immediate network.

The CLIO project has been made possible with technology and funding provided by the NSW Government through the Community Access to Natural Resource Information Program (CANRI). CLIO is linked to the CANRI website www.canri.nsw.gov.au and to the NSW Landcare website www.landcarensw.org.

For further information about CLIO contact the Landcare Information Officer on (02) 9895 7252, or email Information Officer.
